The kart that carries the name of McLaren F1 star Lando Norris and the other brands from the home of Tony Kart – OTK – have found a new home in Australia with all brands now being distributed by Sydney’s IKD (International Karting Distributors).
To be known as the OTK Master Distributor, IKD will take control of all brands under the OTK banner including the renowned Tony Kart, EOS and the Norris chassis.
The Emu Plains-based outfit already had OTK brands Redspeed, Gillard and Exprit on its roster, however has bolstered that with the addition of the popular Italian chassis’.
In what was described by IKD Managing Director, Ian Black as a ‘quick transaction’ with OTK owner, Roberto Robazzi, it will take control of the Master Distributorship from Melbourne-based DPE Kart Superstore, who instead has announced its focus will switch to its house manufactured Arrow chassis, while also celebrating their 50th anniversary in the sport.
Baron Engines, the long time importer of Tony Kart to Australia, will ‘continue to represent the Tony Kart brand with excellent service like (they have) done for many years,’ IKD said.
In its announcement, IKD referenced what it meant to the business to have such prestigious brands under its roof and its 32 year history, which also included being the Australian Rotax engine importer when the brand was at its height.
“We are sure that this new distribution structure will strengthen the presence of OTK chassis in the Australian market overall. IKD are proud of the fact that the OTK Kart Group has entrusted us with this very important responsibility,” IKD’s statement reads.
“With over 32 years of experience in the industry, IKD are proud of this expanded business relationship with OTK and is ready to start this new challenge.
“IKD look forward to welcoming existing and new customers and to growing the OTK chassis brands all over the country.”
